The Refinery Culture
Our mission is to help people experience God everyday.
Our vision is to help 1% of the Temecula Valley connect
with God and a life-giving church.
Presence Driven | We prioritize the presence and power of God. We consistently ask God for His mind and His heart for His house. Exodus 33:13-18; Psalm 105:4; 1 Samuel 2:35
One-Aware | We carry God’s heart of love for people disconnected from God, and are relentlessly helping them connect with God and a life-giving church. Luke 15; Luke 19:10; John 3:16
2nd Mile | We honor God with our time, talent and treasure by going above and beyond what is asked or expected. Matthew 5:41, Acts 20:35; 1 Corinthians 12-13, Luke 10
Be With | We put people first, and create space for life-giving relationships. Church isn’t about programs, it’s a community following Jesus together. We are constantly asking, “Who can I bring along with me?” Mark 3:14; Matthew 28:19; 2 Timothy 2:2
Find the Gold | We celebrate everyone with heavenly value and create safety by demonstrating respect toward others even when we disagree. John 4; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 14:3
Keep it Simple | We maximize our kingdom impact by saying “no” to almost everything so we can focus our energy and resources on that which is essential. Matthew 22:37-40
The Bible
The Bible is true and authoritative. We believe that God divinely inspired the original authors through the Holy Spirit to pen His words. (2 Timothy 3:15-17 and 2 Peter 1:21) While we believe God is always with us and in us, always revealing his heart and mind to us through the Holy Spirit, He will never contradict what is recorded in the Bible as practice or belief. Therefore, Scripture serves not only as inspiration into a life with God, but as a guardrail for you and I to know His will. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Genesis 1:5-23; Exodus 20:11
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is eternal, yet entered human history as a baby, born to a virgin named Mary in order to reveal God’s love for us, and rescue us from the consequences and penalty of
sin. Jesus lived a perfect sinless life, died an innocent death on a cross, and was buried in a tomb. On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit, conquering sin and death. Everyone, who puts their faith in Jesus Christ alone will receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Luke 1:26-37; 1 Corinthians 15:4, Mark 16:19
John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the personal presence of God that is given to a person when they put their faith in Jesus Christ. He isn’t an object, a thing or an impersonal force. The Holy Spirit is a person and He speaks in order to provide guidance, comfort, conviction, and correction. The Holy Spirit helps us to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did. He empowers us with gifts to help others experience Him in personal and meaningful ways. And finally, we believe that the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit
should be pursued, practiced, and expected as a normal part of the Christian life. 1 Corinthians 12-14; Hebrews 10:10-14; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Romans 12-14; John 14:12
The Church
The Church is not a building. The church is community of people who follow Jesus together. The church gathers regularly to worship God, serve and encourage one another, and we scatter throughout the week to help our spiritually lost friends, family and neighbors connect with God and a life giving church. The ministry of the Church is an extension of the ministry of Jesus. The ultimate mission of the Church is to bring glory to God and make disciples. 1 Cor. 12:12-31; Matt. 28:18-20
